Innovation

The Stilwell Partnership has introduced:

  • Tracked Roundabouts© (1993-5) - Piloted and developed for Surrey Heath Borough Council but concept copied with varying degrees of accuracy and hence success, throughout the UK. Tracked Roundabout Project Sheet
  • Speedwatch© (1994-7) - Recently adopted by Norfolk CC (a "Beacon Authority" for the Rural Safety Demonstration Project). "Community Speedwatch" – introduced by others throughout UK.
  • Virtual Narrowing© (2007) Virtual Narrowing Scheme - Preceded Rural Safety Demonstration Projects
  • Free On-line Sight-line Calculator© (2009) - Assists Local Authorities and Developers in establishing safe sightlines at accesses and junctions. See more on this free calculator...
  • Speed in the Right Environment© (Sponsorship) - Road Safety Education should be interesting for young people and new drivers. Embrace the enthusiasm and natural desire for speed but emphasise the need to channel it to a safer environment. Speed (per-se) does not kill, but inappropriate speed for the wrong environment is highly dangerous. srs supports "Speed in the right environment©" by sponsorship of children and young people in motorsport.
  • Free on-line srsCALCULATOR (2010) - See how your organisation is performing against best practice.

srsCULTURE

srsCULTURE - Commitment to Road SafetyThe process has been in development for nearly 15 years, funded by the Stilwell Partnership. It creates the first web-based "cradle to grave" holistic ContinUous LifeTime SUstainabale Road Safety Education process. It is primarily web-based costing £1 per day for membership. In addition, we have the expertise to individually and personally tailor and deliver a scheme to your needs at extra cost.

Stilwell Road SafetyStilwell Road Safety Limited (srs) is a "Not-For-Profit Social Enterprise" and aims to make a real, sustainable and quantifiable difference in the world of Road Safety Education.

Stilwell Road Safety Limited (srs) has been created primarily to deliver srsCULTURE throughout the UK (bi-lingual: Welsh). Working with UKTI, it is hoped to develop the concept world-wide.

srsCULTUREforSchools

Only a small proportion of children receive any meaningful road safety education, prior to reaching the age of 17, when they expect to be able to learn to drive. Their attitude, before commencing training, is almost entirely influenced by observing their parents’ use of the roads. 17-25 year old drivers are over-represented in deaths and serious injuries on our roads. This MUST change!

Whilst few schools have sufficient "budget" for Road Safety Education, if we don’t embed road safety into the national curriculum from the beginning, we will never instil the change in culture and attitudes required.

srsCULTURE Vision

"To make a real, sustainable and quantifiable difference in the world of Road Safety"

Combining award-winning proven techniques for road safety education within the school curriculum from pre-school through to 6th form; young driver education and training from pre-driver through to post-test driver enhancement; work-related road safety including managing occupational road risk for both main fleet and "grey fleet" (employees who use their personal vehicle on company business); through to support and guidance for the increasing numbers of "older road users" we will cater for all road users and all ages.

srsCULTURE Mission Statement

"To deliver an affordable internet-based process, which fits seamlessly into the National Curriculum, reducing the burden on teaching staff and assisting Road Safety Officers, and which addresses the void in Schools’ Road Safety Education left by cuts in public funding."
